ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING BY C. J. BARNARD
Oil on canvas board 11” x 14”
In Alexandra Cascade in Winter with White-Tailed Deer, a doe and a buck encounter one another across the rushing water of a brilliant blue mountain stream. Separated by the cascade, they pause on opposite banks, aware of one another across the natural barrier between them. Bare trees, snow-covered rocks and cool winter shadows surround the scene, while the vivid water winds through the quiet woods. I wanted to capture the beauty of this fleeting meeting—a quiet moment between two wild creatures in the stillness of a winter landscape.
